Comments Settings

I would like to allow anyone in the world to comment on my blog once an email has been sent to me to approve it. I would like trusted commenters to have their comments posted immediately. What settings do I need to use to have this configuration?

comment settings for trusted commenter

I am not completely sure that this is possible. It may be that there is no way to trust a commenter without having them log in. You can try to set "Immediately approve comments from" to Trusted commenters only and see if that works. That is how it worked in MT 3, but I believe MT 4 is assuming a trusted commenter would be able to create an account and login to your site, which is something that is not open to the world in our current deployment.

Trust but Open

Thanks Brad, so I need to decide if I want everyone in the world to be able to comment with my approving each, or have only the PSU community comment, but then I can have trusted commenters?

If I want all the world to be able to comment, what is the setting I need to make in the comments set up? I think I changed it on one of my blogs and I want the world back.

Comments settings to allow non-psu commenters

Under Preferences -> Comment make sure "allow comments" is checked.

Under Preferences -> Registration make sure "Allow Registration", "Anonymous Comments", and "WebAccess" are all checked. This will allow anonymous or psu-authenticated comments.

Don't forget to rebuild the whole blog after making these changes.
