Renaming Uploaded Assets

Okay, so my students and I are having problems with this:

Whenever you upload a file in the editor, it inserts a link where the link text is the name of the file. Similarly, if you go to Manage->Assets, the "Asset Name" field is set to the filename. However, if you change the "Asset Name" to something more palatable, like from "resume1.pdf" to "My Resume", inserting an asset back in the Page or Entry editor still inserts the name of the file as the link text (instead of the name of the Asset). This isn't a problem for me, because I don't use the Rich Text Editor, but my students are still learning HTML and can't figure out how to either edit link text or have the asset name as the link text instead of the file name.

So, my question: can you make MT display the asset name by default as the link text instead of the filename when adding an asset to a page or entry? Also, can you edit link text in the Rich Text Editor?
