I am leading a study-abroad program in Rome - six hours ahead of University Park time. Trying to post a new blog entry today, I have been able to post text but when I try to insert a picture, the "waiting for blogs at Penn State" message appears and . . . nothing happens. This has been going on for the past 8 hours or so. Is there a problem, or an issue of routine maintenance that we need to know about?

check your blog archives
My daughter is also in Rome right now and was having the same problem. She didn't think the entry went through, but it turns out it is there under the archives. Any idea how to get it out of the archives and on to her main blog page?
By default, the front page
By default, the front page contains the 10 most recent posts. Is the post dated after the last post on the front page?
For some reason the main page may not have been rebuilt when posting the entry with the picture. Try rebuilding the entire blog.

I am looking at why things might be hanging when trying to upload a picture. When I try, the picture uploading works.
I tried multiple browsers, and it all seems to work.
Tom,
I don't see any problems with uploading pictures on my end. Can you let me know what browser you are running, how big the file is, and where exactly the process seems to stall? Is it as soon as you click the picture icon in the editor toolbar, after selecting the file to upload, or someplace else?

image upload hangup
I was trying to write a new entry, starting with an image that I had exported in jpeg to my laptop documents from iPhoto. I clicked the "insert image" icon on the new post toolbar; the square popup popped up, the wait circles appeared, a message at the bottom of the screen said "waiting for blogger.psu.edu -- and nothing happened. This occurred several times. I then wrote the posting without any images, and it worked okay, but when I tried to go back and insert the image in that post the same thing happened as before. I never got past the first popup -- no chance to identify the image I wanted to upload, or to transfer it to the blog posting. I was shut out of the process at the very beginning perhaps 10 times.
I tried signing in to vpn, but that did not make any difference.
I will try publishing the whole blog to see if that works.
Curiously, this has worked in the past week from Rome, and there is nothing new about my manner of connecting.
Thanks
Tom Benson

Problem uploading Pictures
I am having the problem that the picture uploads to my account, but it only inserts a link rather than the image. I have the "Display Image in Entry" box checked, but I don't get the usual option to select the pixel size of the thumbnail. There must be something wrong with the process of uploading the images.
Thanks,
Chris

image problems fixed
Problems with images should now be resolved. A patch applied to the server was the culprit.
